Christmas Is Coming..

So, now that it's going to be the first of December tomorrow, I am starting to freak out a little about Christmas. I am ready for Christmas, but my bank account begs to differ. I knitted a pair of "Simple Autumn Mittens" for my friends, and now she asked me to knit another pair for her roommate for Christmas! Okay, when I knitted the first pair, I started knitting with a U.S. size three needle, and the mitten didn't fit over my hand at all, and I have tiny hands and my friend has big hands. I then went up to a U.S. size six needle (only because that was the only other needle size I had with me at school.) THANKFULLY, they worked out perfect! I would like to make myself a pair, but I would most likely have to go down a needle size for them to fit me. I think I'll just use the size six for her roommate too. For Christmas, my sisters and I draw names for each other instead of buying every one of us presents. I got my sister Liz, and she told me that she wanted a Jasmine coffee mug. Where do you find a Jasmine coffee mug in Minnesota without having to fly to Florida to Disney World? She sent me a picture of one that she liked, and it was $32. FOR A COFFEE MUG! She is the most difficult sister to buy for. I have no idea what I am going to do. With Christmas coming up, it also means only three weeks left of being at this school! FOREVER! I could not be any more excited! Only two weeks of normal classes and then a week of finals, but only three days for me! These next three weeks can not go any faster! Knitting and studying will help it go by quickly!

Knitting Here and There..

I attempted at making the Snapdragon mittens, and once I got to about rows 22-25 (I'm not sure what one), the knit stitches didn't match up and the purl stitches didn't match up. I was kinda upset. The mitten was turning out great until that happened. I decided just to rip it out and just not knit for the rest of the week, because I was already at school. When I went home this past weekend, my mom wanted me to make some hats and mittens. For the hat, I made the Snowball Hat by Katie Himmelberg. It's a simple cabled hat. It was a little short for my liking though. On the pattern, it says to work the rounds of the cable pattern a total of five times. When I did that, I thought it looked kinda short, but I just went with it and continued to do what the patterned said. I kinda wish I would've done another repeat of the cable pattern or maybe even two repeats. Then for the crown of the hat, there wasn't very many decreasing rows. I didn't really like that, so I did a couple more, plus with the rows they had written for, there were still about 40 stitches left, maybe even more. I brought the stitches down to 25. I wish I would've written down the decreasing rounds that I had added myself, but I didn't. I could easily figure it out, but I'm too lazy right now. Then, for the mittens, I made "Spruce Tree Mittens" By Emily Benson. They were very quick and easy. I would recommend using a solid color though, just so you would be able to see the cables a little bit better. But, I am going back home tomorrow, so hopefully I find some more tings to knit, maybe for myself this time. But then again, my friend just asked me to make her some cute simple mittens. I haven't had much luck with finding a pattern yet, but hopefully I will soon. If not, I'll just have to think of something off the top of my head!

Simple Ankle Socks

I finished "Emma's Mitten's". They were actually very easy to do! They tell you to do the cable pattern for a total of five times before doing the thumb. I did the cable pattern only four times, because I thought five times would've been too long for my liking. Then I did the rest of the pattern as normal. They turned out very well and I'm planning on making another pair. I also want to make the "Snapdragon Mittens" by Ysolda. I've been wanting to knit them for awhile now. So this past week, I decided that I wanted to make a pair of simple ankle socks. I've made them before. It only took me two days to knit them. I casted on 52 stitches but it was a little tight so if you have bigger ankles, I would recommend casting on more stitches. I did a 2X2 rib for 7 rows. I know that it's such a weird number of rounds, but it just seemed like the perfect amount for me. After I knitted the rib rounds, I knitted for three rounds and then went straight to the heel. I usually like to do the heel flap types of heel, because I don't like the wrap and turns, and I don't really remember how to do it anymore. I knitted the rest of the sock how a normal sock is knitted. It's very simple. I don't know what to knit next! My boyfriend asked me to make him a hat and pair of mittens, but I haven't been able to find a decent pattern for male mittens. I'll keep looking. I'll keep looking for patterns for myself too!

New Project!

Okay, so I made the sweet sixteen hat that my mom wanted. I sat at home searching all weekend, trying to find a project to work on. I've thought about making a shawl, hats, mittens, cowls, and pretty much anything else. I decided that I am going to make Emma's Mittens by Minh Hoang. I'm going to use some cascade superwash that I found in my stash of yarn. Too bad it's white... But it'll be okay. I kind of want to test the pattern out first before I actually try to make them with some yarn that I would really want to make them with. I know that I'll probably be done with these by the end of the week, since I sit in my dorm bored out of my mind 90% of the time. We'll just have to see. I really hope that these will turn out and look fantastic!

Hey Guys!

Here I am, three years later! I am so so so sorry that I haven't posted a single thing in so long! I am eighteen years old now and I am in college! But before anyone can ask me, I am actually dreading college very much. It didn't start off good, and it hasn't really gotten better. I am planning on transferring next semester. I go home every weekend, and I know I shouldn't, but I just can't stand being in a tiny dorm by myself. I did have a roommate for the first month, but then she decided that she wanted to move in with her friend RIGHT ACROSS THE HALL! It didn't bother me that she wanted to move out. We did actually get along and stuff, but it just bothered me that she couldn't live across the hall from her friend. It has been almost a month since she moved out. It is very nice to not have to worry about a roommate all the time, but it does get lonely sometimes. Anyways, I really want to start making crafts and knitting more. I just need to get myself to do something, instead of sitting here all the time watching Netflix. I just need a few ideas on what I could knit. I also need a few ideas for some crafts that I can make! Hopefully Pinterest can help me out with that one! I was also thinking about knit some things and maybe selling them, but I am not sure about that idea yet. I want to find ways to help me make a little bit of extra cash. When I transfer next semester, I will be living at home, so I will probably work A LOT! That'll be okay with me though. I would rather try to save up a little bit of money now, before I get my degree. Anyways, I will hopefully have some new projects up for you guys to look at very soon!
